I received this Cancellation Notice from the CV Recreation Council: Due to lack of agenda items the Recreation Council Meeting scheduled for January 3, 2012 is cancelled. The next regular scheduled Recreation Council meeting will be February 7, 2012 at 7:00pm. Summer Field closure and allocation meeting is scheduled for Tuesday February 7, 2012 at 6:00pm. The 2012 Winter Program for the Carmel Valley Recreation Center is now available, and program registration may now be done online! That's right, you no longer have to hurry down to the Rec Center on Saturday morning and wait in long lines to register for the program of your choice. Note that online registration requires you to create an online account, so you may want to get an early start. Registration instructions are in the brochure, with class registration starting Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 9:00 AM. Register Online at the SD City Online Registration Portal. If you have questions, or if you'd rather deal with a person, you can also register in-person at the CV Rec Center. For the first time, the Carmel Valley Recreation Center will have Online Registration for the Winter 2012 Programs. Watch cvsd.com/parks for more details (coming soon!)

Registration for the 2012 Spring Season of the Carmel Valley Youth Baseball League for boys and girls ages 4 and 5 is underway now. It is intended to develop the children's skills and make them confident ballplayers helping them as they head toward their days in Little League. Register today at www.CarmelValleyYouthBaseball.com.

North Shore Girls' Softball registration is underway now. For information and to register for the Spring 2012 season, see their website at www.nsgsl.com. You can also learn about the Player Clinic with the UCLA Women's Softball Team in January!

Here's the Carmel Valley Recreation Center Fall 2011 Program Brochure. Fall Program Registration begins September 10 at 9:00 am, see the program for complete information. The usual conditions apply -- lines sometimes form early for popular classes; historically, only a few classes fill the first day; numbers handed out at 7:00 am; one number per family; you can't get a number for your friend; etc. See the CV Parks Page for additional information on parks in the community and their operation. Note that there is some possibility of online registration, but likely NOT for this session.

Keep your summer fun going with an event for the whole family! On Saturday, August 6th, Time Warner Cable brings you Disney’s Tangled, a free movie event for the entire family! Pack up your beach chairs and join the fun at our Moonlight Movie event at Carmel Valley Community Park, 3777 Townsgate Drive on Saturday, August 6th (upper field).  The fun starts at 5pm with Mad Science, Obstacle Courses and Master Sports Laser Tag! Pizza, popcorn, candy and drinks will be sold.  The movie starts at dusk. Bring your blankets, low-back sand chairs and the whole family for fun in the sun, games, and a movie under the stars.  Admission is free. The August 2, 2011 Meeting of the Carmel Valley Planning Board's Maintenance Assessment District (MAD) has been canceled. Next meeting in September.

The Annual Summer Serenades concerts in the parks start this Sunday, July 10 at 5:00 PM at Solana Highlands Park. Bring a blanket or low beach chair and enjoy an evening of wonderful music in the park! This is a great place to picnic, visit with neighbors, dance with your kids, or just enjoy the music. It’s entertainment for the whole family. The complete schedule includes:

• July 24 at Solana Highlands Park: Upstream.

The Carmel Valley Recreation Council meeting is canceled on July 5, 2011 as is the Carmel Valley MAD meeting. I guess everyone's still on vacation. Next meeting for both groups is the first Tuesday of August.
