MCAS Miramar Operations, Sept 6-12

MCAS Miramar LogoMCAS Miramar will be conducting the following day/night time training operations this week:

  • On September 8-9, there will be standard rotary-wing operations using the Landing Helicopter Deck (LHD) from late morning to late night (finishing before midnight).
  • On September 8-10, there will be standard fixed-wing operations using the Field Carrier Landing Practice (FCLP) during daytime hours.

Weather conditions could propagate aircraft noise and you may experience varying degrees of noise and vibration within adjacent communities. Additional day/night fixed- and rotary-wing operations may also occur during the week if training requirements warrant it.

CV Planning Board’s Regional Issues Subcommittee: Sept 1, 2010

The next meeting of the CV Planning Board’s Regional Issues Subcommittee is on Wednesday, September 1, from 4:30 to 6:00 PM at the AMN Healthcare Building (12400 High Bluff Drive). The agenda includes an informational presentation of the Flower Hill Mall architectural designs, and a discussion of the proposed retirement community (Rancho Del Mar) adjacent to the Polo Fields. Music at the CV Library, Sept. 15, 2010

September’s free family music program sponsored by The Friends of the Carmel Valley Library will be presented on Wed., Sept. 15th at 7:00 p.m. in the library’s community room. It will feature Duo Zelo in a program of contemporary Latin music. The performers will be flutist Joyce Hayutin and guitarist Anthony Cutietta. The program will last 45 minutes.

Joyce Hayutin received her B. A. in Flute Performance from Towson State University in Maryland. She also attended the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. She has been performing professionally in symphonies and ensembles, and teaching since the age of 16. Joyce currently lives in Carmel Valley where she teaches in her home studio. She is an active member of several organizations and is a founding member of San Diego Coastal Flutes.

Anthony Cutietta received his B. A. in Classical Guitar Performance from San Diego State University. He performs throughout Southern California in various venues and also teaches. He is a member of the Music Teachers Association of California and the Guitar Foundation of America.

Interested in a basketball league for Boys and Girls (4th-8th grade)? Childhood Cancer 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run

Max Run 5k & 1mi Fun RunThe first annual Max Run for childhood cancer research and clinical trials, Saturday, September 11, 2010. Enjoy a fast, 5k course at scenic Lake Miramar in Scripps Ranch. There is also a 1-Mile Fun Run which is kid & stroller friendly! 100% of race registrations and donations will go to childhood cancer research and clinical trials. CV Rec Center Program BrochureThe Carmel Valley Recreation Center Fall 2010 Program is now available online. Program registration for the fall begins on Saturday, September 11 at 9:00 AM, except for certain contracted programs that register online. Historically, only a few classes fill on the first day of registration, so you generally don’t have to arrive too early. On the other hand, a few classes do fill quickly (first come, first served.) Check with staff at the Rec Center, or read the program brochure for complete information.
